This past weekend, on February 6–7, 2026, LYBOTICS proudly concluded the 2025–2026 FIRST Tech Challenge Libya season, officially closing a journey that spanned six consecutive weekends, five cities, and hundreds of young people united by one mission: learning, collaboration, and innovation through robotics.

This season FIRST Tech Challenge: DECODE was not just a competition. It was a national movement.
Over the course of the season, LYBOTICS organized five qualifying tournaments across Libya:
- Gheryan
- Sabha
- Benghazi
- Albayda
- Tripoli
Each tournament brought together students, mentors, coaches, and volunteers from its surrounding region. Teams worked tirelessly to design, build, and program robots often with limited resources but unlimited determination.

The season culminated in the Libya Robotics Regional Championship, where the top-performing teams from all qualifying tournaments advanced to compete. These teams truly represented the best of the best not only in technical excellence, but in teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship.
What made this championship special was not just the level of competition, but the spirit behind it.
Teams traveled from different cities, on their own expense, fundraising to earn the opportunity to compete. Volunteers who supported earlier qualifiers returned again also on their own expense to help deliver a world-class championship. Students, mentors, and volunteers from across Libya stood side by side, proving that collaboration is possible, powerful, and already happening.

This is the Libya we believe in.
A Libya where young people compete, collaborate, and innovate together.
Robotics through LYBOTICS and FIRST Tech Challenge is doing more than teaching STEM. It is:
- Creating safe spaces for youth engagement
- Building leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Promoting inclusion across cities and regions
- Offering a positive alternative to division and conflict
Yet, despite its impact, robotics education in Libya still does not receive the level of institutional and societal support it deserves.
This season showed us what is possible when youth are trusted, challenged, and supported.
As we close the DECODE season, we celebrate every student who built a robot, every mentor who stayed late, every volunteer who traveled far, and every team that dared to dream bigger.
